Strobel Receives National Award for Service to Princeton University

Frederick Strobel, president of Burgundy Group Advertising and a 1974 graduate of Princeton University, received last week the 2024 Alumni Council Award for Service to Princeton – the highest recognition bestowed upon a member of the Princeton family.

Strobel received the award along with three other honorees at the annual meeting of the University’s Alumni Council, which took place on the Princeton campus during Reunions Weekend. The award was created in 1972 and has been presented to fewer than 175 individuals in its history. According to Ricardo DeLeon, chair of the Committee on Awards for Service to Princeton, “Strobel was selected by a committee of nine experienced alumni volunteers from a robust pool of extraordinary nominees this year and has served Princeton significantly, selflessly, and inconspicuously.”

A Nashville native and a 1970 graduate of Father Ryan High School, Strobel majored in English at Princeton. He started his volunteer career by interviewing Princeton applicants while still in college and soon was active in the expansion of the Princeton Club of Nashville, which now boasts more than 350 alumni members. Over the years he has served as:

-Chairman of the University’s National Annual Giving Committee (2004-2007), and a member of the National Committee since 1993.
-A member of the University’s Committee to Nominate Alumni Trustees (2011-2013), serving as Chair in 2013
-A member of the Executive Committee of Princeton’s $1.5 Billion Aspire Capital Campaign (2005-2012)
-Past President and a current member of the board of the Princeton Club of Nashville
-Member of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations Committee, Nashville
-Annual Giving Class Agent, Special Gifts Chair for the Class of 1974 since 2012
-Annual Giving Regional Chair, Nashville since 1985.

Strobel started in the public relations and advertising profession in 1977 with seigenthaler/associates, later McDonald/Seigenthaler Advertising. He joined Burgundy Group as partner and owner in 1983 and has served as president since 1985. The firm provides branding, design, PR, and other communications services to a variety of clients, locally and regionally. More information is available at burgundygroup.com.
